Welcome to Interactive 3D Media Lab.
Established in 2004 Fall, Interactive 3D Media Lab has focused on the following topics:
The Media Lab has made strenuous efforts to propose the next-generation game platforms, which can make a quantum leap from the traditional PC online and console games. Multi-platform games, digital board games, RF signal-based VR games, and tabletop computing games are being designed and developed.
The 3D technologies in game and entertainment areas provide us with the realistic environment, and enhance the degree of immersion. Our research on real-time graphics is focused on maximum utilization of the upcoming technologies of GPU (Graphical Processing Unit).
The physics-based simulation also provides us with the realistic environment by simulating physical phenomena such as collisions among objects, transformation by external forces, object deformation, etc. We are implementing a lot of physics-based simulation techniques which can be used in real-time applications such as 3D game.
In addition to real-time graphics and physics-based simulation, many real-time applications can benefit from the computer graphics techniques and GPU performances. A good example is the robotics area. The Media Lab has worked in the intelligent service robot field where GPUs are extensively used for map building, object recognition and manipulation tasks.
